Official Military Parade held to mark Grenada's 34th Independence Celebrations

A representative group of Grenadians from the community resident in Caracas today joined with Ambassador Mc Phail at an Official Military Ceremony here to mark Grenada’s 34th Anniversary of Independence.

This Official ceremony was held at the Panteon Nacional at 10.00am in the company of officials from the Ministry of Popular Power for External Relations of Venezuela {Ministerio del Poder Popular para Relaciones Exteriores de Venezuela} and the Ministry of the Popular Power for Interior Relations & Justice {Ministerio del Poder Popular para Relaciones Interiores y Justicia de Venezuela }. The Ceremony was also witnessed by a class from one of the schools in the neighbourhood.

A Platoon of Venezuelan soldiers from the National Armed Forces of Venezuela {Fuerza Armada Nacional} participated along with a Military Band. The Military Band played accompanying music and beautifully rendered Grneada’s National Anthem.

A wreath was placed at the tomb of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar by the Ambassador and three signatories. After which the Anthems of both countries were played by the Military Band from the Armed Forces and later a General Salute was given.

As part of this ceremony an official book had to be signed. This book was signed by Grenadian citizens residing in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Mr. Peter Wharwood and Ms. Alicia Crowe, member of the Embassy’s staff, Mr. Nelson Ruiz, two officials from the Foreign Ministry {Direccion de Protocolo} and Ambassador Mc Phail.

After the Ceremony, the celebration continued at the Ambassador’s Official Residence with typical Grenadian culture.
