EC $851,111.00 for the repair and rehabilitation of Birchgrove R.C. School


Monday 1st October 2007- St. George’s: A contract in the amount of E.C. Eight Hundred and Fifty One Thousand, One Hundred and Eleven dollars ($851,111.00) has been awarded to Classic Design & Construction Services for repair and rehabilitation of the Birchgrove R.C. School.

 

The scope of work under this contract consists of repair and rehabilitation of the existing school building comprising classroom block (lower and upper), pre-school building, toilet block and a small storage building.

Works are primarily of a remedial nature including the following:

 

  • Roofs- General repair of roofs to Classroom Blocks A & B as required, replacement of metal roof sheeting to Block C, D & E (Pre-School, Toilet Blocks and Storage Building).
  • Ceilings- Repair timber and concrete floors as required.
  • Doors- Over and repair all doors as required.
  • Windows- Overhaul and repair including replacement of hinges, stays and other ironmongery on existing timber batten windows.
  • Folding/ Sliding Screens- Replace existing screens with new including sliding gear and track complete.
  • Kitchen- Replace cupboards in Block A Kitchen with new, complete.
  • Fixtures and Fittings- Existing chalkboards, whiteboards and pinboards to be replaced with new all blocks. Cupboards/Closets to be repaired.
  • Painting- All surfaces to be repainted generally, including walls internally and externally, ceilings, doors and windows and other complete.
  • Electrical- Existing installation to be overhauled and repaired, complete.
  • Toilets- Overhaul and repair of existing. Tiled surfaces, toilet and other fixtures to be cleaned for re-use. Damaged elements repaired/replaced as required.
  • Drainage/External works- Sewerage disposal system and surface water drainage to be upgraded, concrete pavements and aprons repaired as required.
  • Termite Treatment- To be carried out for all buildings.

 

Repair and Rehabilitation of the Birchgrove R.C. School commenced on the 24th of September, 2007. This project is funded through financing obtained by the Government of Grenada from World Bank and European Union.
