January 21st, 2010: The
finals of the 2010
Independence Song Festival
takes place on Saturday
January 30th, at the Grenada
Trade Center beginning at
8pm.
The registration for the
competition was completed on
Wednesday January 20th and a
total of twenty (20)
Artistes have entered the
competition, with all
registrants competing in the
finals.
Among the registered
Artistes are veterans
Croqueta, Teacher Eddie,
Sisterly, Lady Cheryl,
Smallies, Gun, Jah Glory and
Young Sound, with youthful
representation from Sour
Serpent, Big Jay and Little
Natty among others.
A very high quality
competition is expected with
the winner walking away with
$10,000, 2nd place $7,000
and third place $5,000 and
thereafter appearances of
$1,500. Additionally, the
best-dressed Artiste on the
night of the Competition
will receive a brand new
Laptop, sponsored by Courts
Grenada Limited.
In other Independence news,
Grenadians are reminded to
participate in the National
Community Service Day, this
Sunday January 24th, as the
build up to Independence
2010 continues. The purpose
of community service is to
allow all Grenadians the
chance to cleanup, beautify
and decorate their
surrounding areas.
The 2010 Independence
celebrations culminate with
the Military Parade and
Prime Minister’s address at
the National Cricket Stadium
on Sunday February 7th,
commencing at 2pm.
