Wednesday March 12, 2008, St. George’s: The public is hereby notified that the Government of Grenada has secured a Grant of EC$24 million from the European Development Fund to finance the implementation of the Southern Grenada Water Supply Improvement Project. The project is the result of a feasibility and water sector study undertaken in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
The specific objective of this project is to improve the quantity, quality and reliability of the water supply in the southern part of the country through the installation of pipelines and the upgrading of a number of water treatment plants.
In this regard, the project has two main components. One component involves the construction of 34 km of new pipelines from Pomme Rose to Petit Etang in St. Davids and from Les Avocates in St. David’s to Richmond Hill in St. George’s.
The other component involves the upgrading of 7 critical water treatment plants in Grenada. These are the treatment plants located at Annandale, Mardi Gras, Les Avocats, Windsor Forest, Mamma Cannes, Petit Etang and Pomme Rose.
The project is expected to get started by October 1st 2008 and should be for duration of 20 months with provisions for a possible extension.

Deadline for the submission of tenders is set for Friday June 20th 2008, at 3.00pm.
