St. George's, Grenada, Thursday May 14th,
2009:
As a result of an
incident that occurred on Wednesday 13th May at the St.
George’s Bus Terminus Jason James, a 28 year old Mt. Granby resident
was arrested and formally charged. The charges were laid during the
evening of Wednesday 13th May 2009
Four charges were
laid against James.

Use of obscene
language
-
Causing harm
-
Assault on a
Police Officer
-
Threats of
unlawful harm
Officers of the CID
have indicated that additional charges could be laid against James
and he has been advised accordingly.
James was granted
bail to the sun of EC $4000 and one surety, and is scheduled to
appear before the St. George’ Magistrate Court on 23rd
June 2009.
James a member of
the Royal Grenada Police Force was off-duty at the time of the
incident.
Acting Commissioner
Franklyn Redhead has suspended James from his duties as a member of
the Royal Grenada Police Force effective Thursday 14th
May 2009, pending the outcome of the matters before the court.
Meanwhile
Commissioner of Police Mr. James Clarkson has indicated that he
intends to address the matter of Police Officers operating buses and
other forms of public transportation without the proper
authorization and permission of the Office of the Commissioner of
Police.
Commissioner
Clarkson is presently out of state and is expected back on Saturday
May 16th 2009.
In a separate
incident, another Police Officer was charged and also suspended.
As a result of an
incident that occurred during the early hours of Saturday 9th May
2009 in the Grand Anse area of St. George’s Wilfred Buckmire,
a 39 year old resident of Perdmontemp in St.
David’s was arrested and formally charged with indecent assault.
The charge was laid
as a result of a complaint made by a 25 year old female resident of
Calliste in St. George’s.
Buckmire was
arrested and charged on Wednesday 13th May 2009 and the
South St. George Police Station. He was later granted bail to the
sun of EC $10000 and two sureties, and is scheduled to appear before
the St. George’ Magistrate Court on 23rd June 2009.
Buckmire
is a member of the Royal Grenada Police Force attached to the
Fire Department at the Point Saline International Airport.
Meanwhile as a
result of the charge laid against Buckmire, Acting Commissioner
Franklyn Redhead has suspended him from his duties as a member of
the Royal Grenada Police Force effective Thursday 14th
May 2009, pending the outcome of the matter before the court.
