MINISTER CURWEN TREATS THE ELDERLY

Thursday 1st November, 2007. St. George’s. The Minister responsible for Tourism, Culture, Civil Aviation and the Performing Arts Honorable Dr. Clarice Modeste Curwen in conjunction with the St. Mark’s Welfare Group will be holding their annual luncheon for the elderly citizens of St. Mark’s on Sunday 4th November, 2007 beginning from 12:00 noon at the St. Mark’s Secondary School.

The annual event is one that is high on the calendar of events in the parish and according to the Minister, the invited guests are looking forward to the luncheon. She said that what is most important is the significance of the occasion and what it does for the elder folks spiritually, physically, mentally and socially.

She went on to say that the afternoon’s event is always well supported and well attended and it is with great pride and pleasure she undertakes such an event.

She reiterated the fact that we should embrace our elderly because they are the ones who played a most significant role in shaping our future.

Commenting on the event, Chairperson of the Welfare Committee, Ms. Vadlyn Baptiste  said that the evening promises to be a good one. She said there will be cultural performances by church and community groups and also by the elderly themselves. Some of the elderly will be given gifts and transportation will be provided to take the elderly to and from their homes.

All elderly in the parish are invited.
