Thursday 29th November 2007- St.George’s: The CARICOM Secretariat working with the Ministry of Education on Thursday 29th November 2007 began a two day workshop on HIV/AIDS and Life skills for persons within the education sector.
The workshop which is being held at the conference room of the Grenada National Stadium saw the participation of Health and Family Life Education subject leaders and Guidance and Counselling Assistants from primary and secondary schools throughout the island, as well as School attendance officers.
The main aim of the workshop is to address issues affecting youth such as self awareness and self control skills as it relates to HIV/AIDS.
Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Mr.Julien Ogilvie representing the Minister of Education, Hon. Claris Charles encouraged the participants to realize the critical role that they as educators play in the lives of the youth and their communities.
The workshop was facilitated by a regional panel of trainers from Grenada, St.Lucia and Guyana.
